The friend in Wales with whom I was talking reported that the video during the PC session was better, but the audio was much better during the Prime session. We had a short Skype session which I initiated from my PC first, and then I started a second session from the Prime. The Skype session went fairly well, but the camera switch did not. If you tap on it it should let you choose what camera you want to use. Under the persons video you should see 4 icons, one of them looks like a little video camera. Try reconnecting the physical connector and rebooting the system with external webcams. The webcam will not work with Skype on a Mac if it is not correctly installed.
